What was your very 1st job?
Beside the typical house chores and babysitting. My very first, paid interior design job, was at 14 years old. I was given a sewing machine that Christmas and my neighbor asked if I would design a duvet cover for her bed, she paid me $300!

How did you get started in the industry?
I grew up with many family members in the construction/design industry. My aunt was also an interior designer. As a little girl, I remember sitting at her drafting board drawing floorplans to my dream homes and filling them with furniture using her templates. I would play with all her color pencils and finish samples. My parents also renovated all the homes we grew up in and we were always involved in the process (demo, painting, picking furniture, etc).

Whose a girl boss that you really admire and why?
Kelly Wearstler! Her designs are pieces of art. I love how she has created a brand based on her aesthetic and has branched into product design.

What’s your go to outfit when you want to look like a boss?
A tailored dress, great pumps, a fabulous bag, and well thought out jewelry pieces. My Electric Pick jewelry is some of my favorites; I always receive compliments when I wear EP, they are definitely conversation pieces.

What do you LOVE about your job?
Being creative and inspired by everything. My eyes have opened more through design, I take notice in all things, I’m curious, I want to see how things come together and join and transition and I’m very tactile, I want to touch everything. I love that each day is so different from the next. I also love the process of collaborating with a great team and how a project evolves and takes shape.

Do you have a favorite project?
Oh goodness, that’s tough, I love them all, each are so different. I love how projects take me to some of the most beautiful places.

Can you give any advice or tips to individuals who are trying to enter your field?
Be curious, ask questions, and don’t assume anything. Figure out a formula or method in which you stay organized then implement it on all your projects. Don’t only depend on technology; hand sketch, paint, touch, feel, see, explore.
